Lapband Meals For The Family

Recommended Posts

I cook for my family and am not going to cook separate meals for myself so I am tweaking old favorites and coming up with meals that we all will eat. This is a super easy and great for us banded too!

4 frozen or fresh chicken breasts

1 jar salsa of your choice

1 can black Beans

1 can corn

Place all ingredients in crock pot. Cook on high for 6-8 hours. Place all in a ninja blender or food processor ( I do 2 batches) and chop. My family eats this for taco filling. Top as you want. I have 3 oz. topped with some avocado. It's all I need and do yummy!

If anyone has a family friendly recipe, please share it!

I make spaghetti using whole grain Pasta and 93% lean ground turkey instead of beef. It's very good!

I still eat the same meals with my kids all the time, I just substitute ground turkey for ground beef, use whole grain pastas, brown rice, and skim milk. It's really helped make a lot of recipes they're already used to healthier and they can't even tell a difference.

Great idea ! I dont have any Band friendly recipies as i did'nt know there was such a thing . I just thought since each person is different, you just ate/cooked what ever you could tolerate. My husband is diabetic so most of our meals are diabetic friendly, and he must watch his salt intake too. He doesnt like sweets, and i dont need them so there are no sweets or junk food in our house, outside of a little salsa and chips. Try looking for diabetic recipies online or for cookbooks at 2nd hand stores. Yummy ! we eat well, Lots of recipies with ground turkey, beans and lofat refried Beans all meats, ,whole wheat noodles , fruits and veggies and lots of lo salt, low cholesterol items. i can tolerate most foods so we have a good variety. good luck !

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
