Getting Back On The Wagon

Recommended Posts

I had the surgery back in sept 2011 and since then I have falling off the wagon, I have only lost about 20 lbs. Have lost two friends from suicide in the last few months, husband had surgery, was laid off and now I have finally gotten myself emotionally stable enough to get back on wagon. I realized these are all excuses and now I totally understand I am a stress eater. Got the Water glass full for third time today...see no point in beating myself up anymore about not doing well. Please give me some direction on how to start over...Do I go back to just having Soup and liquids to get back on track foor a week? Any input would be appreicated!

I gained 25 pounds since my surgery in October 2011; I consulted with my surgeons office and I am now on 800 calories per day until I get those 25 pounds off. However, it hasn't been that difficult since my last fill in May. Talk it over with your doctor's office and see what they say. Are you seeing your doctor regularly? Be very honest with yourself and with your doctor's office; they want you to succeed! Good luck to you!

Rayanne

My heart goes out to you . I know all the feelings you are going thru , we lost my brother in law to suicide in 92 .

With that said , you have lost 20 lbs !!!! We all fall of the wagon . The important thing is you pick yourself up and brush off and get back on .

I haven't had to start over , but you know what needs to be done . I would do my pre-op diet again . On mine I had protien shakes for Breakfast and lunch then ate a protien packed supper .

I wish you the best of luck , take it one day at a time . You got this girl !!!!! And if you need to talk I'm here . Keep your eye on the prize :)

It is never too late to get back on the wagon! I was banded 9.08 and lost about 53 lbs after surgery. I had to go through losing my job at the end of September, went back to school fulltime, lost my Mom to Cancer, got a divorce then decided to move back to California where I am from.

I had in the few years before my surgery had lost my Father to a Cardiac Arrest, went through my sisters suicide attempt (caused by death of our father and she was told she couldn't have babies)

She got pregnant less than 2 months after the attempt, then I had to deal with Mom's surgery for cancer and (complications for Mom and and emergency c-section for sis on the same day) FUN stuff!!

I opted to have some Fluid removed from band due to losing insurance and not having doctors in CA that I could see. I gained 48 of the 53 lbs back in the three years I have not been seeing a band doc.

I got my new fill finally two and a half weeks ago.

I had to learn fast how to eat again! Keep going and just jump on the wagon... see the doc.. get a fill..

forgive yourself! I started to notice a difference in a couple days after the refill...

Keep a good Protein Shake on hand! I would try to get into the doctor and check into a fill... I believe they have seen it all!!! They didn't even bat the eyes when I told them where I was for 3 years... the main thing is I'm back!!

I'd start by seeing your dr. Talk about your food choices and your fill level. I see my dr. alot - not only for fills. Do you have a local support group, you could start going to meetings.

Eating wise.... eat your protiens first. Get back to the basics, get rid of all junk food, and get exercising.

Good Luck to you... YOU CAN DO IT!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
