yella1021 0 Posted March 8, 2006 I am having problems with insurance. I am thinking of selfpay. It is costly! I have a letter from my physician and I have the psych eval, now the insurance company says that I need a letter from a nutritionist. I have been going to the same doctor for 18 years:help:
Wheetsin 714 Posted March 8, 2006 If the only known barrier between you & the band is a nutritionist's letter, why not just get the letter? That's a $15,000 letter...
juliek 0 Posted March 8, 2006 Nutritionist was a requirement for my insurance. It is no big deal to go see one costs between $75 to $150 ish and get the letter. You will spend about an hour with the nutritionist. I know the one that I went to had some great information, so I considered it money well spent.
DrHekier 0 Posted March 9, 2006 See if your Lap Band surgeon has made arrangements for an evaluation by a nutritionist or dietician. As part of our program, all of our patients are evaluated by a registered dietitian. Call your surgeon's office, they should be able to help. Good luck! sleepyjean 0 Posted March 9, 2006 Call the insurance company back and make them tell you EXACTLY what their requirements are. Get them to fax it to you if possible so you have it in writing. That way, if there are other requirements, you can take care of them all at the same time instead of them jerking your chain like this.
Northernsun 4 Posted March 9, 2006 I had the hardest time calling the shrink- the nutritionist was a good investment. Funny- it was a requirement for the surgery but the insurance co didn't cover it.
