I am a January bandster and just found out that I am 10-weeks pregnant! I had my 5th fill last Tuesday and the doctor had to take a little out as I was way too tight and I found out I was pregnant on Thursday. I asked my OB about the lap-band and whether I should get the band unfilled and he said NO! He wants me to leave it as is. I had gestational diabetes with both prior pregnancies and he thinks the band will help with this pregnancy. Has anyone had any experience with this? I left a message for my lap-band doctor, but I figured I would check in here as well to get some feedback. Thanks in advance!

I only gained 12 - 14 lbs with my last three kids. They wete fine. 2 came out 9 lbs and they took the othrr early bc I had a history of *** babies. I did not have the band then but I was careful on my weight gain. Congrats on your pregnancy!

Thank You! I lost 25lbs with my first pregnancy and lost 7 with the second one. He's more concerned with gestational diabetes than with gaining too much weight, considering my history.

I have read other posts from pregnant ladies, and some unfill and some do not. I think as long as you get the right nutrition, you should be fine to stay filled. If you struggle to consume enough for you and the baby, then you should really unfill.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
