Getting Discourage. Is This Going To Work For Me

Recommended Posts

I am really getting discouraged. I have only lost 20lbs and I need to lose 60 more. I was banded Feb 2, 2012. I have had 6 fills and I need another one. Will I ever find the green zone. How will I know its the green zone. I can still eat anything I want and as much as I want. Am I doing something wrong? I need help.

Please dont get discouraged. I promise you - the "zone" is just right around the corner. The first 5wk mths, 8 thought I had failed yet again. I could eat just like before I was banded. It only took me 3she fills to get there tho, but I was discouraged just the same. I think just about every new bander worries they are going to fail. They can teach us nutrtition facts, about exercise, etc - but they really need to teach patience. Thats my number 1 hint to a newbie.

6 fills is alot to not find any retriction however. Do u know how much is in your band now? Some people who have 14cc band ('ike me) sometimes get to the right restriction at 5cc. And someone with a 10cc band may need 9cc. Im not sure of the science behind it all -day but i promise it will eventually kick in. Its almost impossible for u to be doing all the right stuff, get all the fills u need, exercise, and fail. I believe that those who do fail at this gave up early on and werent patient.

Im here to tell u that IT DOES WORK. In Oct of 2009the 8 weighed i n at 248the lbs. My last drs appt 3 wks ago, 6 fills later, and 2a 1/2 yrs later, I weighed in at 148. 8 still want to lose about 13every lbs and have found myself at a standstill, but I know I can do it. I literally cant afford to gain weight. The fortune that I've spent on a new wardrobe (and I gave away every one of my 3x clothes away)!!!

Good luck to u. I hope ur next fill is the "one". Let us k. Now how it goes!

Marci

Sometimes its not the number of fills its the amount of fill they put in, u dont mention how much fill u have in your band, dont get discouraged, the closer u are to the green zone the smallest of fills can make a big difference. This is a slow mo way to lose weight, but slow and steady is good so dont get discouraged go back and get another fill if u need one .. good luck

I did not get restriction until 10.6 in 11cc band. About 6 months out.

Don't get discouraged. I've been banded for 2 1/2 years now and have only lost 47lbs since being banded. (I lost almost 70 but gained back 20 over the last year!) And I stretched my pouch and tilted my band and had to have all my Fluid taken out about a month ago. BUT I AM NOT DISCOURAGED! I actually am more inspired now to do it right! I go back this Friday for a recheck and hopefully can start getting fills again.

Keep at it, keep working with your doctor, and be honest with yourself and your doctor about what you are eating/drinking and your exercise and how you are feeling. You are a team, you need each other, and in time, this will work for you!

I currently have 6.2 cc in a 10cc band. I hope the next fill is the one.

how are you doing on losing inches?? that is so fun to experience too.

Are you amping your exercise? Our bodies get used to whatever exercise we

do, we need to add or do more.

we love to walk the dogs, had a regular route we took all the time. I decided I was bored with it and ended up adding another 2 1/1 to 3 miles to the total walk! I didn't realize how much more I was doing??

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
