Pain At Night

Recommended Posts

I have been woken a time or two during the night with a pain. I am quessing that it is from the port.

When I twist or stretch at night, it feels like little needles. I am little more than a year post band. Love my band. Just worried that I might be messing something up. Which is silly, because we are suppose to be able to workout and not cause damage.

Anyone else having this.

I had surgery 9/08 and every once in awhile I get a twinge here and there in the area around the port. I think it could be related to how the port was secured and nerves etc. I also sometimes get what feels like a charlie horse in the area of my port, the same type of cramp you get in calves when one is dehydrated. Of all things it can come on during sex or if I stretch a certain way lol...go figure (so I try to keep hydrated)

But I have found that I lay back, make sure to drink alot of Fluid and maybe even eat a banana, it will go away. I had one about a month ago that lasted off and on about an hour!!! I drank, and put a heating pad on it to relax the area. I know my band is fine, i just had an upper GI and a new fill two weeks ago.

I can relate to the pain at night when laying down on that side. mine feels as if the stomach fat maybe caught between the band, stomach, and ribs(weird) I have to toss and squirm a while to get comfortable and then be awakened by caughing and reflux. reflux is in the past now, but I still hurt in that area when exercising. Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
