Hi. I'm from Macon area and attended a seminar today and really think this Lapland route is for me but dread facing surgery again. Gallbladder surgery last year caused me many very severe complications and I worry about yet another abdominal surgery. Anyone faced lapband surgery within a year of gallbladder, pancreas, and liver surgery from gallstones? Any bad side affects? Recovery reasonable? Quite worried that this will keep me down and out for long recovery. Thanks.

Look at what health problems u will be facing if u dont lose the weight .. having a lapband is classed as a minor proceedure that there is no reason why u should have a dificult time :)

I had gallbladder removed in July, they couldn't get one stone out and it caused severe pain rubbing against my intestine. Had to go back to the hospital and was sent to have the stone removed in another procedure. That was painful. Banded this March and it was a piece of cake. Gas pain was tolerable as long as you move around. It builds pressure when you're still. Good luck.

Thanks kmt1973. I ended up from gallbladder with four surgeries due to call the organs blocked from stones, so I was hoping banding would be easy as a walk on the beach after the sheer heck last year was. Already look like a bad tic tac toe game now on my stomach so what's a few more marks? Still about six months from surgery so work won't have a cow about me being out again, but looking forward to getting this done and getting my life back.

I have 10 scars on my tummy 5 from lapband, 4 from gallbladder, 1 from c-section. This was by far the easiest. Goodluck! :D

Wow. My sister from another mother. So glad I'm not some crazy screwy case out there and that there is hope. Good luck with you in your journey. Mine is still just beginning.

Hi! I'm from Macon also. I'm having my surgery on July 19th. I've had a few surgeries- 2 c-sections, tonsils, laproscopic, etc. I'm not at all worried about this one for some reason.

I am so excited to get it done! Maybe we can have our own little "macon" support group. I was surprised at how hard it was to find someone to do the psych eval and nutritional eval that my insurance required.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
