I was banded on May 29th...I just wanted to check in with others that was banded the same day (or close to) to see how things are going.

What are you Eating? How are you Feeling? You having any Issues? What are your Successes?

Or anything else you might want to share that could make this experience more successful...

Thanks in advance:-)

I was banded 5/31 ... I am now eating low-fat cottage cheese, canned chicken/tuna with light mayo & as of last night, can tolerate one stick of string cheese. I started preop at 327, currently 310. My incisions itch sooo bad from healing, & I have been able to sleep on my stomach for the last few nights (thank gosh!) Looking forward to starting to exercise soon :)

Only hard part I am dealing with is the not drinking before during or after eating. Had scrambled eggs this morning & I tried so hard not to drink during... but ended up drinking 10min after. :(

I should also say that I am out of town for about a week away from my scale...I am hoping when I get home the number is down by at least 3 pounds. I am nervous because I am now eating mushy and soft foods...but I a started walking 3 miles today and hope to do it every day we are here. Nothing lithe walking next to the lake.

I was banded May 11,2011. I have lost 77lbs so far. I can eat just about anything just in moderation. bread is hard so I stay away from it. I had a fill about 2months ago and was to tight so the Dr. loosened it last month. I am loving this band and enjoying my life. My sister had it done the same day as me and she has lost 86lbs. She looks amazing. She was about 50lbs smaller than me to begin with so she is smaller than me know. We both have had an amazing journey and look forward to whats to come. I am 232lbs and she is 180lbs.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
