Pbing And Throwing Up

Recommended Posts

Ok so I'm new to this site and have gained a lot of info this far. I'm really concerned about this PBing, throwing up, and food getting stuck. Can anyone tell me their experience with this??? It's kinda making me re-think getting the band..

If you follow the band rules and chew well and are not too tight... You should rarely, if ever PB.

I would not be freaked out. It is an avoidable thing if you are careful. If you do get stuck and PB, it is a learning experience.

I have never vomited and only PB'd once since being banded 5 months ago. The one and only time I did PB it was totally my own fault- I ate a breadstick way too fast and took way too big of bites.

As adorkbl said, vomiting and PBing are both avoidable.

Ok, so when you have the band you have to eat slower and take smaller bites? Will you always have to do this with the bad or is this only in the beginning?

I am almost 2 years out and have never PB's or vomitted (knock on wood). I have only had about 3 stuck episodes all from raw baby carrot (just hard to chew it well enough) or cheap doughy white bread.< /p>

From what I got PB is when the food does not

Pass through the band and get stuck and it comes back up.. But not like throw up but in the whole form you at the food?? I think that's right? But anyone please correct this if I'm wrong..

PB stands for productive burp. In other words, when you burp something comes up with it, namely food. Others call it throwing up, spitting up. Something get's stuck and it either must pass the stoma, or come back up. This happens when you don't chew well enough.

This is why the lapband is a life changing surgery. You will ALWAYS have to eat slow, take small bites and chew well, otherwise there are consequences. You do learn really quickly, trust me.

PB's (throwing up), getting stuck is a bandster's worst enemy and has to be taken seriously. Throwing up can cause the band to slip and other problems as well. One episode will not do this and has to be a re-occurring issue. If you eat slow, take small bites, chew well, and still have these episodes then your band may be too tight and must be adjusted (unfilled a bit). This is why fills after surgery are in small increments until you reach that so called green zone.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
