What Are You Most Looking Forward To?

Recommended Posts

Other than losing the weight after being banded I mean?

Like for me, I can't wait until it doesn't hurt my feet when I get out of the bed in the mornings.

And I can't wait to ride on a roller coaster and have the lap bar close the right way.

What about you???

Not need a seat belt extension on an airplane, feel comfortable in the seat, and cross my legs at the knee!

I want to have children. I imagine telling them that I dreamt about them and loved them before they were even born and did one of the hardest things I have ever had to do so that I could have them.

I want to be able to wear a belt with my blouse inside my clothes, instead of hiding the fat wearing them on the outside.

I want to go shopping in the normal section of a store instead of paying $3 extra for larger sides.

I can't wait to get into those Size 8 to 10 clothes in my storage closet. Who cares if they are 15 years out of date! I'll wear them anyway as a celebration and make my husband take me out in them. Maybe, people will think I'm retro, not just odd.

1) Not being self-conscious when going to town

2) Ride amusement rides with no worries about fitting into the seat

3) Take part in more boating activities (skiing, kneeboarding)

4) Go into any clothing shop and find something that will fit me.

5) Weighing less than my hubby

6) No more weight lectures from my primary doctors

7) Go on my next cruise and take part in the activities and possibly wear a bikini (this will depend on how my skin does after the weight loss)

I went to a seminar and someone who got lapband a few years ago and was now at a healthy weight was asked by someone at the seminar this very question...and after they gave their answer ... the person who asked the question (who was fairly obese) said (seriously said this) ... that they can't wait to trust a fart.

the guy who answered her question said "excuse me?" and she said even louder "to trust a fart, because I haven't been able to trust a fart in years because of all of this (waving her hands up and down her own body)".

I had to walk out of the room.

One of my top "looking forward to" items is NOT having to ride around Disney World on a scooter. I want to be able to walk the parks, just like everyone else.

(But I will miss the scooter's basket for carrying things!)

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
