I had hernia repair also with my lap band surgery. After the surgery, Dr. Fox said that I would need to have a second surgery to remove one stitch from the hernia repair. So two surgeries in one day. Needless to say, for the first two weeks I wanted to die. I'm finally back to work after four weeks. Didn't expect anything like this. But I'm doing well now. May need to have my first fill next week. 31 pounds down so far, so I can't complain too much.

I took pain pills from Friday to Wednesday. I never had much pain in my shoulder, but I had a lot of pain in my stomach and chest area and also my abdomen (probably from gas). I can relate to the chest pain when taking a deep breath. Are you coughing any? It would hurt like h*** when I coughed - from my chest to my abdomen.

It DOES get better. Trust me. If you only had your surgery on June 6, it's probably going to take a couple weeks before you start feeling better, but you WILL start feeling better. Good luck to you!

I did not have a hernia repair, but experienced serious left shoulder/neck gas pains from about day 4 to 8 or 9. I used a heating pad and walked a lot, but I think it's one of those things the body has to get rid of at its own pace (unfortunately).

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
