30 months and my band has slipped!

This sucks! I read the title and my heart sunk

So what your saying is a total unfill has not helped? Is it too early to tell...

I am so sorry to hear about your slip. Now reading your post could your tummy not only be irritated by the PB but did they give you anything to take such as Nexium or Previcid.. Do you think that would help? Just trying to fish for something that hopefully it will lay back in place.. Sorry

I really do understand what you're going through, Kelly -- at least in part. I'm pretty frustrated with the whole thing too, though I haven't been at it as long as you. I'm frustrated that I can't eat brocolli or salad or a slew of other foods that would be very good for me, but I just can't get down past the band. I'm frustrated with the constant fills and unfills, with the intermittent pain involved in taking a bite that was chewed 3 times less than it needed to be, and with a lot of other things.

For what it's worth, I had the "won't it just slip again" talk with my doctor, since my band unslipped once, then slipped back into place. He assured me that by undoing the band, repositioning it, reclosing it, and sewing the stomach around the band correctly that the chances of the band slipping would be no more than in any patient.

I just decided that it wasn't even worth the 1%-2% chance of that -- not combined with all the frustration I've already been through, and the less-than-stellar results I've had with the band.

You have to make your own decision of course, and most people here (if not all) will support you either way. I certainly do.

:omg: (((KELLY)))

Not YOU too! I cant believe. Well, I CAN believe it, just hard to accept.

You are making a decision many of us will face sooner or later. I totally support you either way, you know this.

Please let me/us know what Spiegel says. Im extemely interested to hear his side, what HE wants to do.

Youve been w/o anything since Saturday? you may be at goal weight now.

You have my number - call me if you need to!

I am very sorry to hear of your slip. I just got my band two weeks ago and am terrified of it slipping. I have a hiatal hernia which means I am at a higher risk for slippage. Best of luck to you in whatever you decide.

THIS SUCKS!!!

Wow Sweetie I am so sorry your going through this & also that you've been so frustrated with the process has a whole. I will be praying for you this week & hoping it falls back into place rightttttttt-NOW! There did you feel it move??? I hope so! I have heard of slips moving back & staying put for good after being restiched. I just hate to see you going through the "what If process".

I think what Penni said is great. We never know what the future holds ever. So we just deal w/the here & now. Hopefully it can be fixed & maybe it will never slip again, I hate to see you lose it. What ever happens I pray your happy w/the results. I am behind you as we all are:0)

(((Kelly)))

:(

I can certainly understand wanting to be done with all the drama. As devastated as I was to lose my band, I did take some comfort in the fact that I wouldn't have any of these worries again. The flip side is, the hungries definitely kicked back in, and so did my weight gain... :D

So sorry to hear about hubby - wishing you both the best, and good luck with this difficult decision.

xxoo

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
