I had my surgery 2 weeks ago yesterday I did Atkins for 2 weeks Pre-op. in total I have lost between 8 and 9 pounds. I don't feel any different. My scale is stuck on 180. I want it to dip Into the 170's do badly. I see so many of you who have lost 15 plus during this period. I know I am eating so much less than before Any suggestions? Thanks

It IS going to dip there - don't give up. I know it's hard but please please try not to compare yourself to anyone else's loss - some of those had liquid diets (myself) and I think that is a big part of the loss but there's so much to compare also - maybe they were heavier so they lost faster? Maybe the only lived on liquid? Give it some time and give yourself a break if you can... I know that's hard. And be sure to post when you DO get there because I know you will :).

My weight loss pretty much stalled in the first couple of weeks after surgery too. It seems to go in spurts. I'll lose three or four pounds and then the scale won't move for a week or so. I only lost two pounds last month because I really needed another fill. Got that fill a week and a half ago and I'm down four more pounds!

I know what you mean about eating like a bird, seems the weight would go down faster. My husband tells me I eat like Cindy Lou Who from the Grinch that Stole Christmas!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
