JanetC 2 Posted March 8, 2006 Heh, welcome to band life! It does have a way of reminding you that things are different now, doesn't it! Congrats on surviving it! (( Hugs!! ))
MyKdsDad 1 Posted March 8, 2006 Isn't that a loverly graphic at 3:00 am??? NOT!!! Karen, now you start to understand the LIFE changes that you've put in to motion. Go back to liquids for a day and give your tummy a chance to recover.
tilly 5 Posted March 8, 2006 awful isnt it, I had quite a few before I remembered to slow it down and learned what I could and could not manage to eat. well I remember the 4 hours that I PB'd on a minescule bit of prune skin!! they are off the menu since you might be sore today or a bit swollen so try to stick to Soup and liquids if you can
Sunta 5 Posted March 8, 2006 Gosh, I feel for you. I had a nightmare that I forgot I had been banded and I ate a huge cheeseburger and french fries! And then, in my dream, I was horrified and I must have been semi-lucid because I was arguing with myself in the dream if I really did that, or I dreamt I did it. It took me a good five minutes after I woke up to figure out it was just a dream. Thanks for posting your experience since it will be more of a reminder to keep me on my toes. Hope you feel better now!
NJChick 3 Posted March 8, 2006 You'll loosen up once your healed (a few weeks) ... go slow, very very slow.
Alexandra 55 Posted March 8, 2006 Karen, aren't you still supposed to be on liquids?!? Yikes! Stay far away from the Pop Tarts--lesson learned!!
DOC 0 Posted March 8, 2006 Did the same thing! What the hell was I thinking! It goes to show you how deep our thoughts are and how much we have to change. I used to eat without thinking about it all the time... Good luck....
Wheetsin 714 Posted March 8, 2006 We made it about the same time after surgery before PBing. :clap2: Mine was an accident though. Sucks, huh? I'm allowed to start cottage cheese, refried Beans, canned fruits, etc. today but honestly - I'm now scared to go beyond Jello & Protein drinks.
karenj 0 Posted March 8, 2006 thanks everyone for your words of encouragement. Alex, no liquids anymore, my doc said only for 24 hours, but i am SURE he didn't mean a poptart! I woke up starving and wanted something to eat. I since have bought some cottage cheese w/pineapple chunks. My god what an aweful experience!
NJChick 3 Posted March 8, 2006 Wholey smokes, only 24 hours on liquids? I was on them for 3 looooong weeks.
PhotoNut 7 Posted March 8, 2006 Karen, be careful of pineapple chunks. They are very fiberous, stringy, um.. whatever you want to call it. Try peaches or maybe pears. They are soft and mush up a lot easier. I tried a small piece of pineapple in some fruit coctail and spit it out when I saw that I wasnt going to be able to chew it to goo. All these PB stories have me very cautious about what goes down my throat! Thanks for sharing. Sorry you had to go thru it. Like everyone else said, get back on liquid for a day or two to help the irritation and swelling from the PB go down. I've heard it you try to eat too soon afterwards, it just causes it to happen again. *Hugs*
Wheetsin 714 Posted March 8, 2006 Not to hijack - but I had this question and PhotoNut brought it up, so a brief question for her... I bought lowcarb (sweetened with splenda) pears & peaches, and unsweetened applesauce last night, thinking the pears and peaches would be the easiest to get gooey. I love pineapple, but was concerned about the acid. What has your experience been with applesauce? It's already goo for the most part, so I thought it would be ok in small bites...? PhotoNut 7 Posted March 8, 2006 Hey Wheetsin, I eat it almost everyday with cottage cheese, chicken, whatever. Im an applesauce freak. *laughs* No problems whatsoever. Enjoy!
