So eat a taco...why not? As long as you aren't on liquids or mushys, eat a taco....I had one for lunch Wednesday. I had the one I couldn't eat for supper, yum.

if u havent had them since surgery..be careful. i had my first one after my first fill, and well, the shell caused me to get stuck. i know it wasnt the meat cuz i had taco meat prior to that and was fine. If you can stop at just one, you may be ok..but tacos are kinda like chips, at least for me, i want more than one lol. Good thing i got stuck or i would have had more than one.

You are only putting yourself at risk. The pre-op diet is meant to clear your liver of fat to make the surgery safer for you. By clearing the liver, it is smaller and easier to maneuver around. The instruments they use to hold onto it don't slip off as easily, because the outer coating of fat is also gone.

Keep your focus on your upcoming surgery. You can do this.

I'm sorry, but this is about as immature and irresponsible as it gets.

If you want support, ask for it. But to say if no one responds in a certain amount of time you're doing it? Like some threat almost? Seriously, this is downright stupid. Either take this surgery seriously and do what you know is necessary or just walk away now but posts like this are ridiculous.

Your on your pre op diet, please try try try to NOT eat that taco. The basis is to get the size of your liver down, and if you keep with the diet you should be fine for them to do the surgery. Think of how you will feel if they open you up/ then close you right up because your liver did not shrink in size! Think of those feelings vs what the couple minutes of the taco heaven is like! After your banded and on regular food, then give the taco a whirl if you really want it. That is my suggestion.

Im on a low carb diet, so I only ate the meat, so I am ok..... Sorry, but sometimes I need someone to knock some sense in me. The poeple around me just say its ok, that won't hurt. Thank you all

I didn't mean to sound like that..... It is just harder when you are with people that are always trying to tell you not to get the LB.. I do take it very serious.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
