Nearing My 2 Year Anniversary And Starting To Have Complications

Recommended Posts

June 22nd will be my 2 year lapband anniversary, to date I have lost 60 pounds and feel like it was the best decision I have ever made. I know that I could lose more if I were to make better food choices. Lately I have started to notice a strange noise coming from my stomach, almost a bubbly sound yet not a burp. Also now if I lay down within an hour of eating it seems to come back up and causes severe heartburn which is also I new symptom I have been having. I have to take prilosec for relief which is something I have never had to do. Not eating anything new, nothing spicy, no carbonation. Any ideas? Anyone having same problems??

Thanks!!

Go back to the Dr . could be a band problem..... better to know...... this reflux business is nothing to mess with.......................Try the post op diet and see if that works while waiting for Dr appt. about 5 days on that should help.

I'm 2 years out also this June. Reflux is a sign of being too tight. I'd definately make an apointment. Like anything else, problems caught early enough are easier resolved. Good Luck!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
