Who's Shadow Is That?

Recommended Posts

I have had so many NSVs in the last 3 months, but my favorite so far happened last weekend. I was working around the house and I noticed my shadow on the driveway and it had a visible waist! It has been years since my shadow was anything but a big blob with a head and legs. I was so excited.

Other NSVs I have had include:

Went down from 4X sweats to a 1X

I can wear heels all day at work and my feet don't hurt at the end of the day

I went shopping at the mall with my daughter for 3 hours and was not exhausted when we were done

I no longer crave sugary rich Desserts or high fat foods. Instead I crave cucumbers or turkey burgers.

I can now see the cleft in my chin, and I only have 1 chin to look at:)

I am no longer morbidly obese

The seat belt in my van will fit around me and still have extra length to spare.

First off congrats!! Sounds like your really makin progress :) I to am finally startin to notice changes which makes me feel good. I was starting to become discouraged because I am not in anyway at my goal :( but instead decided to look at the positives! Ive lost 150 pounds, I went from a 34 jean to 22 I can comfortably where a 1x tshirt without stretchin the heck out of it first. I can run up a flight of stairs! And still be breathing normally!! I used to stop to catch my breath just from walking up them. And my favorite I can try clothes on at the store and not have to go for the biggest one on the rack and hope I can stretch it to fit! Lapband has truly saved my life and yes we struggle sometimes but beyond worth it.

Congrats!!! You gave me a good chuckle, whenever I see my shadow I cringe especially when walking near my 6 foot tall husband who is also slim, my shadow is a big fat blob near his tall sleek shadow! By this time next year I hope I can look at my shadow and smile secretly to myself!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
