No Drinking While Eating

Recommended Posts

Sorry, your post is a little hard to understand....do you mean drinking while eating after surgery? I generally don't even have a drink on the table when I'm eating at home. That seems to be the easiest (especially because I used to drink a lot when I ate). When I'm out it's a little different....I seem to have problems most times when I'm eating out so I do have a glass of wine usually, even though that's not recommended. But I'd rather have that than have to PB in a restaurant (which I've done too).

You will learn really fast how not to drink ...for me it is a half hour before and after a meal. One time that you get that metallic taste in your mouth and feel the food rushing up will keep you from ever wanting to drink and eat again.....kind of a Pavlov's dog thing. It is so uncomfortable that you will not want to drink while you are eating...but be careful about drinking before and after your meal. I can't drink sometimes for up to an hour after I eat. Good luck, it is a small price to pay for the success of the band.

Best advice dont even pour a drink then your not tempted..

Once you have your band Give your food half an hour to process then take a sip or two and see How ya feel if its tight or uncomfortable wait another half hour.

Weird at first but youll get used to it. Believe me once you slip up and drink to fast and you start sliming youll think twice.

One more thing make sure your meals are moist one it will cut down on the thirst and two you are less likley to get stuck. My band hates dry or rubbery food which is why I avoid left overs the microwave rubberizes.everything!

My NP said if something is getting stuck then take a sip. Just don't consistently drink while eating.

I agree with Krussell. If I'm stuck, I can't drink. It will have to come back up then!

I have been drinking and eating since day 1 with only one backfire. Luckily I was in the kitchen when it happened. Everybody is different.

My surgeon says that if you have a really hard time with thirst while you eat that you can ask for a glass of ice and anything that melts off the ice during the meal is ok to drink. It should only be a few sips and should not wash everything through. This can also get the waiters to leave you alone about getting a drink.

I just don't understand why you shouldn't drink while eating. I am pre surgery so i haven't had whatever experience you all are sharing. It just seems counter intuitive to not be able to drink some while eating. Can anyone explain this for me. I am a big fan of learning from other folks mistakes but not without reasons.

The theory is that liquid will just wash the food quicker through the small stomach opening. This is pretty counter-intuitive to what the band is supposed to do!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
