shap 24 Posted June 8, 2012 I have been banded 3 months. I have had a few sodas during that time. Sometimes I've had good experiences sometimes not. The truth is I didn't have soda again for almost 2 months post banding and I lost the taste for it.
SGP78 16 Posted June 8, 2012 When I went to see the counselor before I was banded she had told me a horror story of a lady that she seen who had the band. Since I heard that I told myself for sure No to cokes! It's now been over year and 3 months since I've had one! My Dr said no to all cokes even beer. I don't drink beer so not a big issue. m1aman 944 Posted June 8, 2012 I was told to definantly not drink any carbonated drinks. The carbonation can cause the pouch to be stretched out and then it can cause you to gain weight and the band will not work the way it should. Why would it stretch the pouch when liquids pass right through the band and go to the main stomach?
MonaLisa2 24 Posted June 8, 2012 I was told by two bariatric doctors not to have carbonated beverages ever again. They both told me it could cause air in the pouch and eventually lead to band slippage.
ElizabethAnne 40 Posted June 8, 2012 I was told carbonation could stretch the pouch, though "flat" is fine.
