Could It Really Be.... Dun Dun Dun... The Green Zone

Recommended Posts

SO in my band Ive got 3 cc's, in an 8 cc band. My second fill was in April and since then I hardly eat anything, and im never ever ever even the slightest bit hungry unless I start thinking about food. I dunno it could be the green zone?

Also a few questions.

Im 5 months out and it seemed before this last fill I could get in 1200 calories now im barely hitting 800, is that normal? Im just not hungry and if i try to force myself to eat i get sick.

any thoughts?

Sounds like it could be. It's different for all of us. Are you saying that 800 calories a day is all your band will allow through or all your head wants you to eat?

Oh, I do know. I've thought about having .25 CCs removed since I can't eat a lot of food(except for slider foods). If you're afraid you're not getting enough nutrition, you might want to slip in some healthy slider food or get a small unfill?

I have experienced similar. Ever since my last fill 2 weeks, I am lucky to get in 900 calories a day. I was eating 1100-1200 a day. It's not like I'm trying to cut calories, and I can still eat anything I want, I just find I'm full very quickly so simply can't get in all the calories I used to anymore.

Im with you on this one. I just had my 6th fill 3 days ago, last night was my 1st solid food since then. i had a little Pasta with a little homemade sauce, and this am i had a hard boiled egg and 2 chicken meatballs. im comfortably full. I am so hoping ive hit the green zone. it would be nice to not always think about food, and then i could get the dang scale to move ! So how do we get enough healthy foods in ? Advice ? thanks !

I try to eat only healthy foods I guess. I eat alot of chicken and veggies. Not a lot at a time though because i cant. Just try and eat the chicken first and whatever else next. That what I do. Still dont feel like im eating enough though. it kinda sucks. lol

Are you eating 3 oz of Protein every meal? Are you also able to eat at least 1/2 cup veggies? If you can't do these things you are probably too tight. If you can eat a balanced diet on the 800 cals you are probably fine.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
