judybellyband 6 Posted March 8, 2006 I have been having significant arthritis pain for over 2 years that resulted in painful shots into the joint. As you know because we can only take Tylenol, it has left me without needed non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) which had been an effective arthritis pain treatment option before my lap-band surgery. Well, with the help of my wonderful sister-in-law pharmacist, she learned resently of mixing these 2 ointments in use together for treatment of arthritus pain. It is this combination of the two compounding topical ointments which I am now also having great results with. It is applied to the area (hands, knees, joints) twice a day. They are extremely expensive but truly worth it if you are also having the same issues. So you might want to talk to your doctor and then look for a "compounding pharmacy" who can make-up these ointments for you to try. They are (1) ketoprofen 10% PLO Gel and (2) lidocaine 10% PLO Gel. Hope this information might also be helpful to others. :clap2:
Ceparano 0 Posted March 9, 2006 Thanks so much for the info. I have been wondering how I was going to manage without arthritis medication after getting my band.
kim2bhealthy 3 Posted March 9, 2006 Thanks for the info Judy! My mom recently had both knees replaced due to arthritis, and she still suffers with it in her hands and back and hip. I'll check into this for her...
NJChick 3 Posted March 10, 2006 I have arthritis also and so does my inlaws as well as my Mom. We use a TOPICAL gel called Bigeloil, its basically a external analgesic used on horses. Yep you heard right. My mom had a hard time sleeping through the night but when she uses the bigeloil she sleeps right through. It was funny because at first her and my brother made fun of me saying that they were going to start craving hay and apples. We like it... good stuff imho. Do I have to go to a stable? Any info will be appreciated. Thanks. Roberta
