Low Cal Alcohol Options? At All?

Recommended Posts

Hey there! So I am about 2 months and a half months out since I had surgery and have been doing REALLY great so far as in watching my calorie intake and exercising/getting in enough Protein etc... I have lost almost 50 lbs :) HOWEVER I am struggling because it is summertime and that means concert and rooftop bar time!! I don't drink often, but I feel like the past few weeks at least one night a weekend I have been :/ I usually just drink sugar free kool aid mix with shots of vodka, but even then the vodka calories really add up!! Does anyone else drink occasionally? If so, what do you drink and how do you make up for it? I have had to basically like double my workout and decrease calories hardcore for at least 2 days after just to make up for one night of having a few drinks... GAH

Ditto, I really only ever drink wine - usually white. I like red but it turns my teeth a very fetching shade of grey, so I rarely drink it in public.

And when I want to keep the calories down, its half white wine, half soda Water. One or two drinks, sipped slowly.

I reckon by and large, its better to just give up mixed drinks and cocktails altogether. Vodka's OK but in general, they're just horrific calories and sugar. And of course you have the carbonation problem.

Caroline, good question here as I like a drink now and then. Prior to surgery I enjoyed a dirty martini or two on the weekends. Typically Friday and Sunday night. Sunday after noons in the pool I enjoyed a lemonade crystal light and vodka {no martini's those nights}. A month or so after surgery I tried red wine which I'll have in the winter once in awhile, and took two sips and just wasn't into it. A week or so later, I tried my go-to drink, d-martini and that too I lost the taste for as well as I felt it burned a hole in my stomach which made me eat a whole trader joe pizza!!!! {totally unrestricted back then}.

Since then, I will have an occasional d-martini {two being my limit} but I eat some crackers and cheese beforehand. I don't get all worked up over it, as I am losing, as well as exercising. As they say, everything in moderation. Good luck to you.

I agree with the above. I love my occasional drinks and I don't feel guilty because of it. The band has helped me significantly cut my calories and I'm still loosing, even after the weekends that I drink. I still have and LOVE my beer, wine, and cocktails. Some low calorie options are wine, vodka and light cranberry, and there are also some Crystal light mixers that I have yet to try but heard they are amazing!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
