Hired A Personal Trainer

Recommended Posts

So I hired a personal trainer once a week for the next six months to get me "into" my groove at the gym. Am I lazy for doing this? I just feel like I need a little extra push and accountability in the exercise department. The band pretty much takes care of the food department.

I think its a great idea, personal trainers can provide focus and expertise and motivation and accountability so good luck to you and there is no way after a session with a personal trainer u could be described as 'lazy'

I am sure a lot more people would hire them if they had the finacial means to .. let us know how u get on as i have often thought of maybe doing the same, only because i saw one locally who specialises in over 50's .. ( my bracket lol ) and after all the repair work and surgery to remove my excess skin i wouldnt want to not do the right exercises to optimise the surgery..

Lazy because you hired a personal trainer??? That's like saying you got lap-band so it would do all the work for you! :)

I got one a number of months ago. She is one of the trainers at my kickboxing gym and she recommends doing train to failure. I tried doing it myself and wasn't able to push myself as hard as I wanted. So I asked her to help me, and I feel doing it with her help makes me push myself a lot harder. I don't want to give up when I'm with her.

Last week on the leg press I did 40 reps with a 10 second hold at the end at 309#. I would have never been able to do it without her support. She did have to slightly help with the last 5 reps, but I managed to do it even though my legs felt like they were going to fall off.

I've been working with a trainer since January, and she's been a big help. I was always the type of person who would join a gym but then stop going because I didn't know what exercises to do and I got frustrated. Be forewarned though, after my first session with her I could barely move the next day. It gets easier so stick with it!

Hell no! I love my trainer. He has changed my outlook on fitness. It is powerful to have someone to keep you on track, text you in the morning, call you and make sure you are getting your backside to class. This all matters. Great move!

Lazy?!? No way! I have had a trainer for about 7 months now. I have known her for a few years, and gave her a call as soon as I decided to get the band. I knew I needed help getting into a routine, and that extra motivation. She's been one of my biggest emotional supports.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
