I have now had my arms done. It has been life changing. I am now able to wear short sleeved shirts for the first time I over 30 years! I don't have before and after pictures of my arms yet but will post those when I get them. She did an extended so all the skin looks neat all around my arm pit. I won't ever have to shave anymore or wear deodorant. She removed my sweat glands at the same time.

Karen, looking at your pictures of your arms is just amazing with the short time you are out getting this surgery done! You are healing super nicely, your scars are almost transparent to your skin! Your surgeon did a wonderful job! I am so happy for you :)

Thanks! I know! Her name is Camille Cash and she is a perfectionist with her work. I don't care if I have scars. I will now be able to go to pools, the beach, hot tubs, wear tank tops, etc... A whole new world is open to me.

Nice! Can I ask how old you are, Karen? I ask because I just turned 50 and figured I would just be accepting "wrinkly" a little earlier than most. Also, are you someone with a high threshold of pain? Seeing your great results is inspiring, but I'm such a whimp and not a fast healer. You've just got me thinking is all. Congratulations on your metamorphosis! :)

I am 53 so the skin was never going to tighten up on its own. I am really not a person with a high threshold of pain. In fact I'm quite the whiner and a wimp. I've had 3 surgeries in 8 months and after each one I ask myself why the hell I put myself in this situation. But then a few months later, like childbirth, I forget and I'm ready for the next one. The pain isn't so bad. The hard part is the recovery with the gauze and tubes and wearing the compression garment and not being able to wear all of my cute clothes and not being able to work out or walk. I'm at week 2 right now so I'm at that really frustrating part. I am so glad I got all of it done though. It's been expensive. I've had to work a second job and move into a cheaper apartment and save every bit of my money, but it was important to me to get it done.

I have lost 170 lbs (got my lapband 2 years ago) and I could not be happier! I was prepared for a lot of pain but it hasn't been bad at all. I still have a drain in and I have another month of wearing the compression garment. Having to try to stay still but I'm just dying to start trying on clothes!

I had this done in Houston but I'm going to Mexico to do the breast lift in August.

What a great job they did, you look great! Have fun shopping

Thanks Karen for the info and for sharing with us/me your experience. I'll remember your journey in the future should I also end up walking down that path. Best wishes! :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
