hi, I just had my first fill on Feb. 9th.. It didin't go bad, but the dr. had a heck of a time getting to the right spot.. He finally made it after about 8 tries and boy was i black and blue after that episode..But it didn't hurt, really!!! it made me laugh, i felt bad for the doc.. !! I have to say.. I feel like i can't feel any restriction.. I go for my 2nd fill on March 5th.. I guess i had anticipated feeling more of a restriction, but not.. I almost feel like I am eating everything insight.. YIKES!!! I don't know whats wrong.. I am eating the wrong foods too.. I guess I need to get back on the stick and do what i was told to do.. I just think if i felt some more restriction, i wouldn't be eating as i do.. i had lost 36lbs. but i am counting the lbs that i lost on my liquid diet too.. Oh well. just wanted to let you know that the first fill was okay.. Help me out if you can.. :think

Hello

I am having my surgery soon. My doctor told me that he does the fill in his office. Is that right? I thought they were done in a Radiology room. I thought you drank something to find the port. Please let me know if this is right.

Thanks,

Christine

Christine,

Unless it's in at a weird angle, they don't need flouroscopy to find the port. BUT, the do need it to watch how the barium swallow goes through the stoma. An experienced doctor can tell (by watching the barium swallow go through) if you are too tight, too loose or just right.

I've not had a fill without flouroscopy and--while I'm pretty sure I've had too much radiation from this and all the other stuff I've got going on--I think I prefer not to have a blind fill.

hi, My dr. did the fill in his office.. but it is right next to the hospital. Some drs. do prefer to do it flouro, but i guess some can navigate without.. I guess it just depends on who you go to.. Before I left the office i had to make sure i could drink some Water and keep it down.. I had no problem. The only time i had flouro was after surgery.. That was cool watching the stuff go down.. Anyway, your right March is right around the corner and I hope I can feel more restriction.. thanks for the replys.. Good luck to us all!!!
