Since I started mushies on Friday I have gained a pound. I feel badly saying anything about that but I was losing 1+ daily. Now to gain is upsetting. I am only taking about 4 Oz of food daily and its mostly tuna. I did have Mac and cheese but 1 Oz only. Still only cleared to walk so using the treadmill daily. Help please.

The first 4-6 weeks after surgery are for healing, not losing. Many don't lose at all during this phase and some do gain a little. Just try to do the best you can and put your scale away until you're past the post op diet and onto real food again. Otherwise you're going to drive yourself nuts.

you are going thru "bandster" hell. don't obsess with the scale right now. once you start to get fills you will lose weight again. Not at 1 lb a day, but it will come off. Do a search on the forum for "bandster hell" and Im sure you will find everything you ever wanted to know about this period in your band life cycle

When you transition from full liquids to real foods, it's expected that you will either gain or not lose until your body stabilizes. Make sure you are eating real foods and don't just continue with shakes because you are worried you will gain.

Okay just like any other diet when you put your body into starvation mode 4oz of tuna once a day. it is saying what the He!! and it is holding onto every little fat cell it has...The weight will come off just follow the program.

I remember when I was new at this I wanted to lose everything week one. Remember huge weight loss over a short time leads to hangy skin, Hair loss , bad breath and crazy head games stay off the scale eat when you're hungry stop when your full and take small bites. Good Luck

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
