Yes you're retaining a lot of fluids right now, they pump you full of them during surgery.

Keep in mind the first 4-6 weeks after surgery are for healing, not losing. It's not uncommon to not lose anything during this time and some even gain a little. My best advice is to try to make smart food choices as you go through the post op diet phase, stick to the plan your surgeon gave you religiously so you'll heal well, and put the scale away for at least the next 4 weeks. Once you're past the healing phase and on real food, then you can start weighing yourself and worrying about loss.

Best wishes to you :)

Trust me that weight should fall off in a few days. I had my 2 week post-op visit with my doctor and he was amazed that I had lost weight. He said it's not uncommon for people to gain up to 10 lbs after surgery! Your body kind of goes into shock, plus all of the IV Fluid they give you, so it takes a while for your body to realize it can release that fluid. You should see the scale move in the right direction soon!

I think it's normal. I gained 7.5lbs in week 2. I don't plan on weighing myself at all til the first fill. Hang in there.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
