NWgirl 574 Posted June 4, 2012 You should ask your surgeon. You don't want to do any lifting over 10 or 15 pounds for the first month. You also need to be cleared to do any moderate exercise. walking should be fine.
Grandma3 73 Posted June 4, 2012 I was told no lifting over 20 lbs. But as fas as excercise if it hurts stop, otherwise your good.
kll724 3,055 Posted June 4, 2012 I agree with NWgirl, you should get authorization from your surgeon for any working out. I was restricted for 2 weeks to only walking, then not lifting anything more than 10 lbs. I was not allowed to do situps, crunches, etc for 6 weeks. Best of luck, Karen
btan302 13 Posted June 4, 2012 The cardiac rehab at the hospital where I had my surgery is meeting with me on Thursday I was banded on 5/29 to set up a workout program I'm so excited I never had anyone really tell me how to work out so this will be great
honk 780 Posted June 4, 2012 I am a swimmer and was told 2 weeks before returning to the pool. I was told to walk as much as I was able. I did return to the gym to use the treadmill on day 5. I did not use the eliptical which I like because I was concerned about any balance issues since your core is very sore .
