I am not sure what is going on with me!

1. I am barely hungry. It's 1:30 in the afternoon and I haven't eaten a thing. This is the norm and I have stalled losing weight how do I know if my body thinks its starving?

2. I have insomnia some days and narcaleptic others. When I can sleep...I never want to get out of bed!

3. Last but not least I am hyper aware of my port. It feels like it is trying to bust out if my body! I don't have pain all the time but some movements do cause sharp pains

Is any of this normal? Any advice would be appreciated.

First, please call your surgeon about the port. And about the hunger, your not that far away from surgery and you are still swollen inside so it's very likely you just aren't hungry. Are you keeping up with your Water? That is a very important part of healing. I don't know about the sleep though. Good luck.

Jerseygirl82 offers good advice.

You're only 19 days post surgery, so you're still healing and likely swollen. It's normal to not have much of an appetite. Also, the first 4-6 after surgery are for healing not losing, so don't bother with the scale until you're past the post-op diet and back on normal foods. Loosing will come, but first you have to heal.

I would call the surgeon about the port. Maybe it's just healing slowly, but it's better safe than sorry.

I experianced the same pain by my port for the first couple of weeks after surgery, think it must of been healing pains, i still get the odd cramp pain there now ( five weeks post op), but other than that my scars have healed well. I also didnt feel hungry for the first couple of weeks, but believe me that will change soon, and you,ll need a fill. Good luck, hope you feel better soon.

I'm 7 weeks post op and still having some of the sleeping issues. They come and go. I'm not sure if it is surgery related or just life related, but at least you know you're not alone!

I was super aware of my port the first four months. I would get little sharp pains that eventually faded. I'm 15 months banded. I found myself not hungry for long periods of time in which I would supplement wit high Protein Shake just to keeps self from getting dizzy or tired. I had some insomnia and would sip sleepy time tea around 8:00 pm. Check with your doctor, I know I had some anxiety after the surgery that put me through a spectrum of emotions:)

Thanks everyone!! I feel better knowing I'm not alone. I will definitely talk to my surgeon and not worry so much about the lack of hunger. I think I will start taking melatonin and see if that helps with sleep.< /p>

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
