I'm "complicated"

Recommended Posts

It's been a while, a long while since I posted. I've been so frustrated it's hard to see everyone in their successes. I was obsessing and made myself take a break. I was hoping for some encouragent and/or answers.

I was supposed to go back to work two weeks ago, but ran into some complications. If I walk too much (in reality no more than 1 mile) or do too much

Sorry, my daughter pushed send ;)

If I do too much I get a shredding sharp pain from my side. It's coming from under my port. I had an X ray to make sure the port didn't move, and it was fine. I'm not a wimp about pain. this pain is borderline unbearable.

Three days ago the shoulder pain and abdominal soreness came back. Abdominal soreness I can deal with and even the shoulder pain to some extent. It just seems like one thing after another, and I'm wondering what next. I'm 8 weeks out, and willing to wait this out. I was wondering if anyone else had this and how it was fixed, or what helped. Thanks!

I have experienced some complications post op, and have been in the hospital twice for evaluation...so I do relate to the recurring pain. They are still running tests on me...

Do you still have your gall bladder? During my post op journey, I have discovered that the gall bladder can become easily inflamed as a side effect of rapid weight loss. As with many other pain, this pain can be "referred", meaning it may be coming from somewhere else than from where you are feeling it. I may need to have mine removed...

I'm not saying this is what is going on with you, only suggesting that you discuss it with your doctor if you pain is not resolving as a possible explanation.

I really hope you will feel much better soon!

Thanks ladies.

I still have my gallbladder and have had a couple of attacks, mostly before I had the lap band. I've only had one since. I'll keep that in my thoughts and ask about my pain being from that the next time I see my doctor. I appreciate the suggestion.

I'd ask for a HIDA scan, to check the function of your gallbladder. Best of luck to you.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
