Hey guys. Been banded since 3/28. I have lost 29-30 pounds total, But I have been stuck here for 2 weeks!! I havent had a fill yet and still dont eat much and although since I have been back to work havent been hitting the gym but I do walk 5 days a week for 45 min to one hour. Do I need to increase my cardio or get a fill? I am beginning to get very discouraged. Help!!

Are you weighing/measuring you food? If not you are guaranteed to be eating to much. Everyone underestimate their portion sizes and we have a particularly hard time. Also at this point in your journey you need to choose really healthy foods; not just eat less of fatty/high calorie foods. Such as 3 oz skinless chicken breast instead of half a breast with a gravy or cheese sauce (half of a normal breast is 5-8 oz). I normally choose raw or the frozen veggies you can steam that have no sauce or low cal ones. I think raw veggies have a lot more flavor and thus don't need to add butter or sauces.< /p>

As to exercise you probably need to up to an hour a day, 7 days a week.

Jean McMillan has just written a magazine article to address this very issue...and she has shared some excellent suggestions for breaking through a plateau. Check it out!

I have hit a plateau every 10 pounds or so, and they usually last for about a week.

Like others have mentioned, it's very important to measure your portions accurately, and to choose low fat Proteins. Spicing up your chicken with herbs and paprika has a lot less calories than adding gravy. My favorite seasoning for fish is paprika and lemon juice.

Best wishes to you as you continue to "stay the course"...the scale does eventually move again!

I was banded on 3/16. I have had 2 fills already and scheduled for my third on 6/18. I exercise 6 days a week attempting to burn at least 250 calories each day. I measure everything. I use myfitnesspal to track my intake, exercise and progress.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
