Your body and your HEAD are saying what the heck have you done sorta like buyers remorse....... I certainly had it my surgery site was swollen I hurt, and I had a diet that I really knew was not something I would choose to comfort myself, like in the past. So I was anxious. It is perfectly normal to feel that way it is like a trap that you did to yourself. I guess I just went through it not much else to do,you are lucky you have this site to shout out to. What you are feeling is normal your body has had a shock and in my case it wasn't the surgery it was the unknown, I handled everything that came my way in life with food, thats why I knew i needed the surgery when I lost that crutch in the begining I was anxious .

But today as most banders will tell you it was the best decision of my life I have learned to love myself with out food . Somethings in life you just have to go through to get to the otherside, if you need more help call the Dr, you are not the only person who has felt the way you are feeling......

Part of the "bandster hell"! You just went from eating a ton of calories to barely any and your body is PISSED! Hang in there- I PROMISE IT GETS BETTER!!! I remember being so lethargic that i had trouble

even getting off the couch- then one day 2 wks later it was like all of the sudden I felt like my old self again!!!!

Don't get discouraged- this is NORMAL!!

Look up "bandster hell" in these forums- it really helped me!

good luck and remember- every day it gets better! You won't feel like this much longer I PROMISE!!

:D

Today is my 5th day post band surgery and I was totally having "buyers" remorse. I'm glad I found this forum and can tell you I feel better today. This is going to be a one day at a time process, glad I'm not alone.

I had extreme weakness and some anxiety too starting on about Day 3 post-op, so much so that I spent Day 5 post-op in the ER because I was certain something was terribly wrong with me -- but there wasn't anything wrong! The problems lasted until Day 7, and then after that I've been fine.

You're not alone out there. The time between the surgery and having enough fill that you actually do feel restriction is pretty tough, that's why we call it Bandster Hell. Hang in there, watch your portions when you do start eating and try to always eat like you do have restriction!

I distinctively remember laying in my bed the 3rd day after surgery, struggling to even drink a little Water, in tears, thinking "oh gosh what have I done?"

I think what you're going through is normal. Not only are you mourning the loss of an old friend- comfort food- you've had a lot of drugs pumped into you during surgery and the days after. Pain killers especially can really effect your moods and even make some people depressed.

It does get better and easier. For me, the hardest part was the month I was on liquids post surgery. I was so hungry! But once you get healed and onto real food again you'll feel a lot better.

Hang in there!

I feel you. Day 4 post-op here. I feel very sad and depressed. I'm having extreme tightness in my chest today, very sore. I keep wondering what I've gotten myself into. We will get through this!

I was banded in may 31st. I have a terrible headache and um assuming it's from not eating. I don't have as much pain but aim still a little sore and very week. I also thought all day yesterday........ Why did I do this ???

I was banned the 23rd and felt all rhe same emotions but, It's going to be fine! I HATED Water, but now I have a travel glass with me at all times and am kind of digging it. Plus, being hydrated has numerous benefits, especially with the GI tract.

It seems that the issue is we did this to ourselves by choosingbto have surgery, but we also made ourselves fat and miserable. So what are we going to do? I choose to be diligent and save up for a set of new boobs and a flat belly!!!

Oh yes, I had so much anxiety after surgery. Not only was I in oxygen with a 50 foot cord, but I was tired, no energy, didn't know what to do with myself especially with the thought of eating differently now. Such a range of emotions. Know that you are okay and it's ok you have these feelings. In time they fade. I remember worrying about food, the port, healing my stitches, was I getting enough to eat, drinking enough, just everything silly I know. Your body is healing...relax and focus on healing and looking forward to a healthier you!:)

I'm sure you all tried a zillion diets just like me and I remember well that every time I'd deprive myself of anything (pop, sugar, carbs, whatever) that I'd always go through some kind of withdrawal. Last two diets I actually tracked it and it seemed between days 7-10 I suddenly got my energy back and felt like I could actually do this. I KNOW we'll all feel better eventually - hang in there. I think you all are so very brave.

I am currently 10 days out and I went through this severely. I wanted to cry but it even hurt to cry. I am so much more positive after joining this group and reading all the positive posts. I would definantly stay away from the negative posts on here just to keep your own mood up but just hang in there. It's a long road but in a few months it will all be so much better.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
