Having Trouble Laying Down!!

Recommended Posts

Has anyone experienced this or heard of it?

2 weeks post-op

When i lay down regardless off time of day/evening, and regardless of what time i last ate, i begin experiencing tightness in chest followed by burning sensation in neck and eardrums, then massive headace and finnaly urge to purge...as soon as i sit up everthing goes back to normal.

But i can only sleep propped up or in a chair.

Any thoughts?

You are probably eating too close to bed time. You need to leave sufficient time for your food to go down. This sounds like bad reflux.

My doctors orders where no lying down at least 30 minutes after eating.

So for those interested, i finally got an answer to the mystery..turns out one of the nerves in same spot as band is the vega nerve. Mine is apparently more sensitive than normal. This actually explains alot about my past history of passing out for no reason also. When stimulated the vega nerve can cause reduced blood pressure, sometimes severe, thus the resulting nausea, headache ect in me now. Good part is this symptom has gradually lessoned an dr says as my vega nerve adapts should go away entirely.

Enjoy

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
