kwood803 25 Posted June 3, 2012 I live about an hour and 15 minutes from where I will be having my surgery in July, would you, banded ppl, think its best to get a hotel room for the night? Or do you think I will be able to handle the discomfort? Thanks!
Cocoabean 430 Posted June 3, 2012 I don't think the distance is too, too far. But, how far away is your surgeon if there is a problem the next day? My surgeon's office is further than the hospital for me. The hospital is about 20 minutes, his office is about 40. If there is a problem after you are discharged, you'll most likely go to the office unless it is a severe issue.
elcee 3,341 Posted June 3, 2012 So long as someone is driving you you should be fine. Take a pillow to put between your stomach and the seatbelt for extra comfort. I had about the same distance to home and I had no problems.
Grandma3 73 Posted June 3, 2012 I also live over an hour from the hospital, I did not stay over night and I did fine. I have been told to take a pillow with you to put on your stomach so the seat belt does not rub on you insicions, I took a pillow but didn't have to use it. Bamabander 111 Posted June 3, 2012 I think you will be fine. You will probably sleep most of the way. A pillow on your lap so the seat belt won't hurt is important and get out and walk at least once, twice if you can. I was banded last Tuesday stayed 1 night and left at noon the next day. I live 30 min from and like I said... I slept. They also gave me a good dose of pain med and anti nausea right before I left. Good luck' I'm sure whatever you decide will work out.
