What An Amazing Journey! -100Lbs :)

Recommended Posts

I was banded July 8, 2010 so I'm just approaching my 2 year bandversery. I expected to loose weight after being banded and I generally followed the rules. That took practice though. You don't have to start off perfect. I expected to loose a little quicker than I have but I gained so much more that I never bargained for.

First of all there is a bounce in my step everyday, I love getting dressed in the morning, I am confident when meeting new people and no longer embarrassed of myself. I finally have gone through and used that closet full of too small clothes that I accumulated over years. I am down 12 pant sizes and shop in regular clothing stores. I have tons of energy!

Other than NSV's though I have leaned so much about exercise and nutrition. I have changed my lifestyle in SO many little ways. I love the new me and I love to learn more and more about healthy living. I have averaged 1 lb a week but that sure does add up!

My next big goal is onderland! I have dreamed of that for 17 years, since my first child was born.

I didn't imagine I would be THIS happy!!!

great job.....100 lbs lost is teriffic. I was banded july 2011 and am down 50 lbs. it is a great feeling wearing smaller sizes and feeling good about yourself. Just had some blood tests done and everything is perfect. I really think the weight loss helped my numbers go down in all areas. Keep up the good work. Right now I am at 173 lbs. and it feels great. Onderland is teriffic.....you will be there soon if not already. CAT

Job well done, congrats!! No matter how long it takes you, the key is to just keep on losing til you get to your goal. So many people think it's going to be fast, get the band and BAM.....you will be skinny! But most of us have learned it is not that easy. Thanks for sharing, looking fwd to your post when you hit onederland!!

I cant wait to be you ! 100 lbs is amazing !!!!!!!!! good for you for sticking with it ! some people think 1 lb a week is too little, but i think its perfect because it gives your body time to adjust and keep the weight off. Love those NSV's! too ! Good luck ! You're doing great !

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
