JanetC 2 Posted March 7, 2006 My understanding of the "sweet spot": Each band will hold some amount of saline (mine holds 4cc). Your surgeon will only put in a tiny amount with each fill (for safety reasons). You'll find that as you go, you may get SOME restriction, but not enough... but you can see the amount you can eat go down... and down... and down... until you hit your sweet spot. Some get filled past the sweet spot & have to get a tiny unfill... to get back to that wonderful spot. When you've hit your sweet spot you eat enough to continue losing and don't PB often. As you continue to lose, your sweet spot may change, so you may need a touch-up fill. Can't wait to get there!
Alexandra 55 Posted March 7, 2006 (I moved these posts from another thread.) The "sweet spot" is a subjective thing and can't be measured in milliliters. I think what most of us mean by that is that amount of restriction that allows us to eat what we want, in small amounts, and also keeps us from being hungry between meals. Restriction can be tricky and different people have different levels of tolerance. Too loose and we're hungry too quickly between meals. Too tight and even small bites are hard to swallow. Once our bands are tightened it takes a little while to figure out where our restriction is, and how to live with it. The "sweet spot" is just that place where everything seems to jibe well and weight is coming off, comfortably.
