Manly food!

its ok to allow ourselves a reward, and our bodies will let us know what it will accept.

I believe that the best reward that you can give yourself for dieting success is not related to food. A "food reward" for dieting success sends the wrong message to your subconscious thinking, and reinforces the flawed thinking we generally have towards food, which is a strong factor as to why many of us got to the point of band surgery.

What do you enjoy, what do you usually not do for yourself? How about a massage or a spa day?? I'll take a massage any day...and I do miss an occasional cheeseburger!

I hope that you are feeling better!

Just eat the hamburger part, not the bun. That way you feel like you are having a treat but you are only having the Protein.< /p>

I can understand, and know the pain. I was once to an event at my church. They had roast beef and little Buns to put it on. This was maybe 3-4 months after banding, well, it was not pretty!!I eat very little beef, to this day! But, I love fish, and have gone to Burger King and ordered a fish without the bun, It was yummy!! My so has both celiac and lapband, so all his burgers are without buns, they do a nice job of wrapping the burgers in lettuce, or putting it on a bed of lettuce to be eaten with a fork. Next time, try that! Best wishes. Karen

I see a couple others said what I would say. Lesson learned. Find a new reward system that is not "food rewards".

After you get yourself retrained it feels pretty good to reward yourself with things that are not food.< /p>

Thanks for the advice.I think I need to attend some support meetings.I can relate to a alcholic needing a drink i fill the same way toward food.I walked threw the grocery store for the first time, and my mouth was watering.I know the band is just a tool, and with all tools they need to be used properly.please excuse my poor grammer and puctuation.I'm just a fat guy needing help with my weight, and one day I will no longer be the fatest man in the room.thanks again. :)

Yup ditch the bun! That's what I do. I get like a mushroom burger. So it is meat cheese and mushrooms! Very yummy! NO food rewards! I buy a piece of clothing since I am running out of ones that fit!

The difference between being a food addict and an alcoholic is that you can live without alcohol, but you can't live without food.< /p>

I think all of us on here are fat men/women looking to not be the fattest in the room! You are in good company here, but a local support group would probably even be better!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
