Had Surgery On Wed, Hungry

Recommended Posts

Still on liquids and I can eat and feel fine then I have this deep hunger feeling afterwards? Is anyone else feel or felt this way?

Are you sure it's not gas? I was banded on Tuesday. I've been having a range of feelings. Sometimes I don't know if it's hunger or not.

Same here. It could be gas. Also, my (non-medically-backed) theory is that the band has caused the brain to be confused, not knowing what signals to send out. One minute I feel like I'm starving, the next no hunger pangs at all. I am starting to get the "full" feeling they talk about. I have been stopping eating when I start to feel it, but then I doesn't last very long since I'm still on liquids. Hoping once I get on solid food, it will last longer. Hope that helps.

Yea I'm sure it's not gas although lord knows I still have plenty of that. It's def hunger, was just assuming where I'm still on liquids. It comes and goes its not painfully distracting but it's there just afraid that I should feel "full"

Do you have a post op appointment with your doc soon? If so, you can talk to your doc about this. You shouldn't really be hungry yet. (I don't think)

I was banded almost 7 years ago. I remember when I got hungry and was on the liquid stage, warm clear broth really helped curb my appetite. It is really important to follow your doctors orders these first several months. Good luck.

I agree with Fantasy. There's a Soup package in the grocery store for "Egg Drop Soup". It's really just broth with an egg added to it. So you get some Protein and the broth which is a little thicker than normal broth but it would be considered a liquid. imo

I continued to use it after the liquid stage and added bean sprouts, diced chicken meat, Sriracha and green onions for a nice gentle meal that came in handy for the days following a fill.

Thanks everyone! Yes I'm SURE it's not gas but I found that a frozen yogurt drop helped a lot... Put quarter size drops of yogurt on some wax paper and put them in the freezer and just pop one when I feel like that and it's gone. My post op appt is on the 8th. Good news though just weighed myself out of curiosity I'm 8 pounds down, 8 in 3 days I'll take it :)

I have been post-op for 5 days now and still feel the gas pockets also one on my incisions still hurt which is the one they use to put in the lap band, i feel like i'm suffocating when i eat as the stomach opening area feels very tight and pressured, i've been using a measuring cup so that i do not go over the recommended 4 oz of liquid but it doesn't seem to be working... any ideas?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
