I have a situation.... (long, and maybe TMI)

Sammee, I just want to send you hugs and good wishes for your appointment with the doctor. I'm seeing a gastroenterologist tonight to find out why I suddenly have recurring reflux along with an ulcer-type pain and frequent heartburn. And I've vomited in the last couple of weeks, first thing in the a.m., too.

So I know exactly how you feel. Good luck to both of us!!

Gosh Sameee, I hope everything is ok. The first time I vomited after being banded, which was actually a huge PB, I had the blood issue, thought I'd pulled something loose, called my doctor and it was a broken blood vessel in the esoph. I'll be checking on you tomorrow....Hugs!

I had something very similar to this when I was over filled! I couldn't even keep Water down! It was a miserable 24 hours until I could get back to the Doc. Since then I have more problems with the barfing when I think I have to cough and it is always more than my pouch can hold. My Doc said that the body produces 1 liter of mucus, which goes into your stomach, each day! Yuck! That's why it is more than you have eaten or drank!

Also, I had the pain on the left side and Doc said it was my colon and not the band. He said pain at the band would feel closer to the center of the chest and less on the left side! Milk of Mag helped me. Anyway, hope all works out well for you! I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers. Terri

Sammee,

I want to let you know that I'm sending you my thoughts and prayers from across the pond. This sounds very scary.

Theh symptoms sound to me like it could be either esophageal or a slip and I'm really REALLY glad you've made arrangements to see your doctor. Any time there's blood in your vomit it's something to be concerned about. Good luck to you.

I am back from the doc.

He said, it sounds lke a slippage. We did a gastrograffin (I think you in the US call them Fluro's) and yup. I have slipped. The left side has slipped up.

So, I have no fill, and am on liquids, till next week. We will do another gastrograffin then, see what the band is doing and decide where we go from there (Re operation, or leave it... I think we will end up re operating to be honest, I just have a feeling)

So thanks for all the prayers, and well wishes.. It has turned out really well , as these things go, and is totally fixable. Just a bump in the road :biggrin1:

Glad to hear its fixable, Sammee! I'll be sending good thoughts your way that it fixes itself, rather than surgery.

Fingers crossed that it heals itself, Sammee!! Thank goodness it wasn't anything worse and can be repaired.

Now it's my turn...endoscopy scheduled for the 16th will tell me what's going on inside. :nervous

Do you still have your gall bladder, and if you do, have you had it checked? Cholecystitis can cause vomiting, shoulder or back pain, amd the vomiting could have caused a slip... just a thought.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
