Walk. Gas-x strips also. Walking seems to work the best. Even up and down the hall

Walk, gas strips and warm mint tea... I have had very little problems after doing that every few hours.. Try and keep ahead of it and the pain. You will be amazed how much better you will feel tomorrow. Glad things went well!

GasX- Walk- Heating Pad & repeat & repeat. The Gas pains are the worst part. I know it's rough. I'm 3 weeks out from my surgery & tears come in my eyes thinking back on those damn gas pains. You can do it!!!!

I found the gas in m left shoulder was really bad for 3 days.

A heating pad and a bean bag I put in the microwave REALLY REALLY helped.

After day 3 I started to feel "normal"... it does get better.

Good luck.

Keep moving about, if you have someone who can take you a drive in the car that really helped me gently though as you will be sore! I'm 10 days post opp & still experience it at night & in the morning! Another thing I had was pepermint tea ... That was brilliant!

Feel Better Soon :-) x

I hate to admit it, but walking really helped. Even late at night I was doing laps in my apartment!

Thanks everyone. Walking does help. I think I'll go get a heating pad too. Man the gas is more painful then my incisions. Didn't expect that. I feel much better today.

Just curious did you have a hiatus hernia repair? If you did its not just gas pains there is a nerve called the vega nerve that cross from your esophageal opening in the diaphragm that gets irritated from the hernia repair. If that's the case just keep moving it will ease up in a few days and be gone completely within a week or two.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
