I'm now 2weeks plus 2 days post op and I'm back at work. I've lost 16.5lbs as of this morning(no fill yet). Everyone has been telling me how much smaller I am. I haven't been this weight since 2004. My doc has me on a soft diet, but those Protein Shakes are starting to make me gag. I can't wait until I get home so I can sleep. 12 hour shifts are a lot after surgery.

WOW!!! That is great weight loss. I only had my surgery last Friday, and I really haven't lost anything yet. Unfortunately I had to go back to work the following Tuesday, so I actually only had Monday off. If only I could win the lottery!!

How are soft foods? I am really worried that with no restriction I will gain on soft food. I am just drinking and drinking!

Neece1, I started soft foods last week, I also started to incorporate some exercise in... I was worried that I would gain weight because I went from pureed food and Protein shakes to some actual food. I was very surprised when I stepped on the scale and was down 4 lbs.

I am one of those people who before surgery couldn't lose weight and If I looked at food, I would gain 5 lbs... So don't be scared about gaining...

I always had the anxiety of getting on the scale( and still do), but I'm starting to get over that!

good luck with your journey!!

Soft foods are excellent, but I'm still getting hungry every 3-4 hours and occasionally I feel this burning cramp where the largest incision is.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
