I had my surgery last Friday, May 25. I have been on liquids only, just as instructed. I have not limited my liquids, but I am sure that must be a LOT less than what I used to eat. I haven't really lost anything, but you would think I would have lost something not eating any solids. I know it is a slow process, but really! I wondered if anyone else is experiencing this? I am looking forward to soft food on Saturday.

Also how do you get the little weight ticker at the bottom of your posts?

Thanks!

Sandy

Sandy, I lost about 4 pounds since my surgery Wednesday, but I honestly think it is because I was in SOOOO much pain, I could barely even drink! I think I was dehydrated! I had horrible pain in my back of all places, not my stomach or shoulder. I think it was becuase of the way they had me positioned on the operating table. I lost those four pounds in the first three days post-surgery and haven't budged since! Don't worry too much, the first six weeks are for healing, not losing! You will lose soon enough!

This is a journey...and now is your time to focus on healing from your surgery. Remain compliant with your surgeon's instructions, and you will see progress!

At the end of my post, if you "click" on my "ticker", it will take you to the site where you can design one to your preferences. Just follow the prompts...

Good luck!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
