I will have my glasses on as they don't like your contacts on during surgery and will probably leave my glasses on afterwords. My wife is a skinny filipina and my dad is a short little Italian man. Me....I'm 5'10 and black hair.< /p> That would be funny if we meet. If you hear someone yell LIZABETH...you will know its me

marketingdude 79 Posted October 18, 2012

I'm leaving early in the morning or my flight to San Diego -surgery Friday!! I'm getting so nervous. First surgery ever! Looking forward to hearing from Marketingdude about his experience. Out of surgery for the past 5 hours. Dr. Kuri let my wife in to watch the surgery as she is a nurse in the US. Worse part for me is the nausea feeling and when they took my cathader out of my pecker (sorry....thought I would just be blunt). I'm now sipping on ice chips and even walked the halls once which is what you are suppose to do after surgery. You will LOVE it here. Class act with many staff and guard on each of the major hall. Very comfortable to know you are in a safe hospital and very clean. You will be meeting Anabelle who is the main nurse....she is fabulous. You will be fine Lizabeth ! Lizabeth2 4 Posted October 19, 2012 thanks for the encouragement! going down to surgery around an hour from now. Met some nice people in the van and in the hallways last night. All is well! i will update when i can - oh yeah, and Dr Kuri is so funny and cute. <3 liz
hondoford 17 Posted October 22, 2012 Lizabeth2 how did your surgery go? I was the guy you met in the hallway (along with my sis-inlaw), the one who said make sure you 'walk'. I got to meet marketingdude on the van ride to the airport on Friday. I'm definitely staying in contact with him and would love to keep in touch! I wish you the best on a quick recovery! Lizabeth2 4 Posted October 22, 2012 Hey! My surgery went great! It was nice to meet you! I'm still pretty sore and having a lot of gas pains, but the experience was very positive and I would recommend it to anyone. I'm starting back to school today (only 3 days post-op - I would probably delay that more if I could!) and I have what I'm calling "habit hunger"... Like, I don't need to eat but I keep reaching for liquid Protein (etc) because I'm bored and feel maybe a little hungry. We will see how that goes. I cant seem to keep band aids on my wounds, but I'm just going to keep them clean and hope for the best. I hope you're doing well! Oh yeah, and a heating pad really helped the pains temporarily - I was nice.
hondoford 17 Posted October 22, 2012 Way you're a trooper! I'm working from the house today but was able to convince my wife to let me go back to work tomorrow. I agree with the 'habit hunger'; I'm so used to just stuffing 'crap' in my mouth that not being able to do it seems foreign to me. Oh well, this is the new normal and if it's skinnier than before I welcome it. Take care and keep in touch, I will do the same!
Lizabeth2 4 Posted October 30, 2012 Hey Y'all! Just wanted to check in.. I am doing good, had some trouble sticking with liquids but I think today is a new day and it will go better. I am down 8.2lbs since surgery on the 19th - and I am in very little pain. I am still having some digestive issues but GasX and Fiber should cover them? Also upping my Water. Energy level is not great, but I am so thankful. Hope y'all are doing well! Lizzy**
hondoford 17 Posted October 30, 2012 Lizzy that's the attitude! I know exactly what you mean about sticking to the liquids. The more healing I do the tougher its getting. I like your attitude though and you're right, today is a new day. Keep it up!
marketingdude 79 Posted October 30, 2012 I'm having a hard time sticking to liguids too but I'm trying. I feel like I could eat anything with my band now...but trying hard not take advantage of my freedoms that I could enjoy. Still a little tender on my left side of my stomach area where the port is...but its getting better. Just noticed that we all got banded by Dr. Kuri within 2 days of each other. Perhaps we can encourage each other through this thread and post active status updates. What do you think? P.S. I'm down 10lbs so far and admittedly not sticking full to my diet so far. Also...I'm shooting baskets and riding the bike every other day....but not trying to force it to promote healing. God bless you all ! 1 hondoford reacted to this

Dude, Doing some exercise is great, but did you know that one of the causes of band slips is failure to follow the post-op diet progression? 5 ☠carolinagirl☠, marketingdude, Maddysgram and 2 others reacted to this
