shonda1536 10 Posted May 30, 2012 Yaaayy! I'm so excited! Finally heard back from dr office today (after being impatient, it's just been two days) and my insurance covers the surgery. I have to see a nutritionist and have a psych eval for when they approve it. And criteria bmi >35 with one or more co morbidity! My bmi is 38.4 and I have hypertension, so I hope this process goes fast! And I have a scheduled surgery date by July. 4 Teresa555, 2muchfun, NWgirl and 1 other reacted to this

smellslikecoffee 43 Posted May 31, 2012 Very happy for you! And kind of jealous! My insurance requires upper GI, sleep apnea tests, nutritionist, psychiatrist, and physical. It turns out I have sleep apnea and need a machine to sleep at night! My upper GI is scheduled next week with blood work, and after that all my tests will be sent to insurance to (hopefully) get approved for banding!! Your lucky everything is going smoothly! Congrats!! jcash 1 Posted June 9, 2012 Hello! What insurance do you have? I beleive my insurance covers weigh loss surgery but not all the way sure. Just joined this site and I have my first seminar Wednesday.
DeAna N 229 Posted June 9, 2012 It is best to call the number on the back of your medical card or go to their website every Insurance varies so much for exampleI have Anthem BCBS which covers the surgery but it is through my husbands employer so luckily his employee didn't change the basic. Coverage that Anthem BCBS has he could have & I wouldn't. Be covered so that's why you have to call them directly
cmk99 39 Posted June 9, 2012 DeAna is correct the best thing to do is call your insurance, I also have BCBS they have a website so I went on that and found all the fine print to see what was needed and it made things a little easier.
