Oh Boy Now What Will I Do?

Recommended Posts

I am having some trouble with reflux/indigestion/or a too full fill. I called the doctors office and they had the doctor call me. He said I can go to the emergency room and wait for several hours (he was in surgery) or I can have a total unfill in the office later in the week. I told him that I don't want to be totally unfilled, he said that he could remove just a little because he wouldn't know how much was there. He said I would then have to make an appointment to have an adjustment. Well, I decided to go in on Thrusday and have the unfilll. The next available appointment for fills isn't until the 23rd of March. (they only do fills 2x/month) I made that appointment. Now here's the problem-How am I going to NOT GAIN!! I am scared that once I am unrestricted all hell will break loose and I will mess this up. I have the band becasue I am unable to stay on a diet. I know the damage that I can do in 2 weeks. Any words or wisdom will be appreciated.

Seppi, been there, done that, have the t-shirt. DON'T WORRY!!! Once you get your unfill, just concentrate on how much better you feel. Talk yourself into believing that NOTHING has changed with regard to how much you can eat or want to eat. All that will have changed is your comfort level. Enjoy it!!

Two weeks is nothing. You can do anything for two weeks. Good luck with your unfill and DON'T WORRY!!

I had to do the exact same thing in January. I did gain 2 pounds during the 2 weeks w/o much fill but it came right back off the week I was "refilled". It was hard, but I tried to keep to the same rules and didn't go out to eat, which helped a lot.

2 weeks seems like forever when you're unfilled, but YOU CAN DO IT!

Good luck to ya,

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
