Yes it Does get better! Just try and focus on healing and learning as much as possible about banding and nutrition as you can right now. Don't worry about the scale at this stage. Help is on the way and you just need to Endure this particular phase the healthiest way you can. I'm also a big believer of writing everything down and taking the food journal in at appointment time so my team can see where I'm actually at. Try not to look at snacking as Misbehavior...but rather as clues to where you need to adjust your overall program. You really don't need the head-trip on top of the emotional and physical adjustment you're experiencing right now.

I'm in the same boat. My first fill isn't until late June. I don't understand why it takes so many fills to get restriction. If I'm paying per fill ($300 at my clinic...not sure what my cost is as I have insurance) I'd tell them they better give me restriction because I'm not paying $300 for them to give me 1cc each time. Imagine how pricey that would be!!

I understand what you're saying as far as cost, but they can't just go in and fill the band. Every person is different and every person has restriction at a different point. I know some who have 8cc in a 10cc band and still struggle. I only have 4cc in a 10cc band and I'm VERY tight, in fact I'm still debating a slight unfill. Then there are the rare ones who never get a fill because they have restriction with the band alone.

My point is, they have to go slow when they fill you. They have no way of knowing how much you need without a gradual increase, and they do it monthly (usually) because whenever you get a fill your stomach will swell, so you have to let that swelling subside before you know just how effective that last fill was.

There is no way around it, fills are a slow process and there isn't a safe way around it.

Mis73 is right on this one Sara. Fills are a trial and error process. It's also a very good way to get to know how your band will work with your stomach by trying out new foods and new methods of preparation of foods.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
