im a fairly blunt person when it comes to conversations about anything and everything so im just going to spit it out but im not trying to be gross. I was banded wednesday 5-23-11 and all ive been able to do is basically fart and ALOT, i can barely burp. I mean sometimes i do burp but they are so little its like a infant burping. I feel like i need one of those just funneled 2 beers burp but for the life of me i cannot make it happen. Ive been taking the gas ex strips etc. Has anyone else experianced this?? meaning one route seems to be working over the other etc? or just not able to burp like prior?

Ive just had my band fitted too (23/05/2012) and exieriencing plenty of wind, and actually it is somewhat of a relief when I manage it. Forget burping though it's just useless, I'm just silent ones that seem to take more air in than expel. Ive not been given any medication for the gas, it's just occurring naturally - on the upside my partner thinks its funny which is a bonus, just hope it calms down before I start eating food again!! Lol

Hi... my surgery date was 4/6/12. And I thought it was post-op gas too....but alas tis still going strong...if not even more so. I've been advised that it's because of the significant diet change which causes an imbalance in the good bacteria of the digestive system. Gas ex has helped - and I've begun taking Probiotic Acidophilus to support my digestive health. This is day three on those two things and there's a significant improvement...so I am hopeful.

My Dr said to try papaya enzyme... I haven't tried it but his office staff swears by it and a friend of my moms says it made a world of difference for her.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
