Did anyone else wake up from surgery and think, "Oh dear, what have I done!" I realize it was only a few days ago for me, but I think I am more nervous now that I have had it done. I am sure once I lose a little weight I will be glad, but now I am not so sure.

What is this "slime" that I hear people talking about? It doesn't sound like something I want to happen to me.

I am sure that most of us thought at some point in this process what the hell have i done or i am going to do but those moments for the majority dont last long :)

Most bandsters when they start feeling some level of restriction ..( can be after 1 fill can be after 3 or 4 .. there is no definitive amounts ).. have moments when food will not pass through the banded pouch part of their stomach into their main stomach and the oesophogas where it meets the stomach thinks that u are choking and produces a slime like saliva to try and unstick/unchoke u .. it can be quite painful some stuck episodes can be due to the type of food, the speed at which u ate the food or that it wasnt chewed enough ... some people get stuck food often others rarely .. depends on how tight your band is and how carefully u eat etc ... it isnt good to get food stuck on a regular basis as this can lead to other complications with the band for a few people like erosion or slippage ..

The bandster term for food sticking / burping up the saliva type slime u can produce is called PB = productive burping . Hope thats helpful .. good luck and relax eventually u will become your own expert at you and your band ..

I have thought that but it does no good to worry about what if's.

Just remember why you did it and follow your doctors orders.

As the months go by and the pounds come off you will be happy you did.

I've been banded 9 months and I still haven't slimed yet. I'm not complaining, mind you.

I have only had 3 or 4 incidents of "slime", if you are careful it's nothing to worry about. Eat small bites, chew like crazy, you will be fine.

I am in the same boat as you right now. I am finding that I am becoming more neurotic these days and I am 5 days post-op. I am definitely having the "holy crap, what have I gotten myself into!?" issue. I have never been one to wish time away, but right now I would like to fast fwd about 2 months. Everybody on here seems genuinely nice, helpful, and concerned for each other's well being, which is so nice. I was also wondering about this "slime" business, and now I know ;). I hope we can both relax and let time do it's thing so we can get on with this journey to our new, happier, healthier selves!! Good Luck!!

I got Banded in Sept 08, I was partially unfilled to from a little over 7cc (which was a bit much) to 6cc in a 10cc band after 9 months due to moving out of state and losing insurance. I slid some but not all the way and got another 1cc in band last week so I am right at 7cc. I had never had a PB as they call it and had to look it up to see what it meant. I had one the other day lol... not pleasant but helped the situation..

I had gotten into some not so great habits and had to quickly learn to slow it down.. chew, chew, chew.

I was wondering IF I had a bit too much but it seemed to have relaxed just a tad. I also found out that I was stressing ALOT over the idea of getting stuck which I had done before the fill on occasion, how I didn't have a PB before I do not know..I also have made sure when I eat I am somewhat relaxed and try to get the anxiety out of my stomach area... that has helped alot!!

Since the fill did experience getting stuck and my mouth kept filling up with Saliva which I kept spitting out in the sink.. I wondered how much would have been collected if I actually measured it because it shocked me. I also did the lean over and some liquid poured out.. sorry to be graphic but it is what we experience.

I also had the freak out in the middle of the night after I got the band. I remember saying to myself "What the hell did I do" It goes away when you start feeling better.. I even went though it a bit last week when I got the fill again.. I THINK it would have to do with being in Mourning for your food or afraid you can never have something that you have looked forward to in the past.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
