They are just aching.. like I have never felt before. It has been all day yesterday, through the night and most of today. I have walked plenty.

DVTs or blood clots are a risk after any surgical procedure, so I might be concerned that you could be having a problem with that. Any time I've had surgery, they've put inflatable cuffs on my calves to keep the blood moving. Do you remember them doing that? There is a chance that your legs might be sore from those as well, if they were really inflated.

Either way, I'd call the clinic or hospital's post surgical line, and ask.

I will be 5days post opt tomarrow and noticed that my legs both were alittle sore on and off I noticed it if I sat still for to long. It was in both my legs they r fine today. If u have any swelling, or they arw hot to the the touch, or hurt when u walk or flex your feet go to the e.r. Right away, because my pain was in both legs and I have none of those symptoms I let it go and they feel fine today.

Your legs absolutely will not be sore from the sequential compression devices that were on your legs during and after surgery. If you have pain in your legs you should be evaluated by a doctor. Both obesity, and surgery put you at a high risk for clots in your legs. These clots are dangerous because they can break free causing pulmonary embolus, heart attack, stroke or even death. Deep vein thrombosis in the legs are a real concern. You need to be evaluated. It is better to be safe than sorry.

I agree with everyone if you say that your legs are hurting like you never had before you should go to the er. They can do an ultrasound of your legs to check you out. my legs felt better when i walked and when i did not sit with them bent. It was not a crazy consistent pain.

I talked to my surgeon. He said if it was a clot there wouldn't be pain. He says I am probably suffering from potassium problems. And to mash a banana up and eat it. He told me he has never had a patient complain of leg pain. So I'm off to find bananas . Thank u for ur comments .

Hopefully that helps. If not, be sure to get it checked out in person.

My brother-in-law had bad pain in his leg and it was a DVT. Not that I am one to argue when you have sought medical advice, just be aware and be assertive for your own health.

With all due respect,

Your surgeon is wrong. DVTs do cause pain. I do agree that you may have hypokalemia as that is a risk after any surgery and liquid diet. And it does ease my mind that your pain is in both legs. DVTs are usualy unilateral. However- if you experience any shortness of breath or chest pain, seek medical help immediately!

your dr is so wrong when he says that there is no pain with a clot. i know there is because ive had them. Im assuming by now that youve had bananas... they are good. Also you can buy some potassium tabs to take. ive got potassium spray, ive had lots of leg cramps since the surgery and i use the spray. that eases the cramps within seconds.

Have you still got the problems with your legs?

In my mist recent weight loss, I realized I was walking more, sleeping differently, and my body is adjusting to new weight loss. They would ache so bad! I started putting banana in Protein shakes for a week, take hot baths, a little liquid Tylenol, and drink lots of Water. This worked for me. Doctor said I was fine, blood work good, a tad low in Iron. I upped my Protein in take.

I would still let your doctor know so he or she can evaluate you.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
