Banded Thursday. Is It Hunger Or Gas?

Recommended Posts

This is the most crucial time to follow your doctor's orders as you're just healing and I'm sure you're on a liquid diet. It's probably gas; get up and walk around a little (it does help). YOu could try Gas-X strips also (they just dissolve on your tongue).

They said I wouldn't really be hungry, but I am hungry too. I am just doing liquids, broth, Soup, Jello. The gas hurts through my shoulders. Several people have suggested GasX strips. I am going to go to the store to get some tomorrow. Hope you get to feeling better.

I starved the first 4 days. My stomach rumbled and was very mad at me. I am happy to say a week later, that I am satisfied. Hang in there! You can do it.

I agree with everything posted so far. It is hard to tell. Move as much as you can and keep up on the liquids. I about 2 more days things should be much better!!!

I could have Tomato Soup on my full liquid. It put a little more in the tummy than Water.< /p>

I agree with get moving....I was fortunate and skipped the gas pains...Hang in there..it will pass..no pun intended. :D Good Luck

I was banded on Friday and I agree with the hunger thing. I think it's just hard to adjust to not eating real food right now. I have been good with the diet so far, just bored with the same old stuff. I do find that V8 juice helps me feel a little more satisfied. I just sip on it and it makes me think I'm eating something semi-normal. Hang in there! We WILL get through this!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
